June Superhero Spotlight: Usain Bolt

June Superhero Spotlight: Usain Bolt

Superheroes aren’t limited to comic books and movie screens. The most inspiring heroes walk among us - humans who break through unreal mental barriers to achieve extraordinary physical feats.

Whether you’re building your body, your career, or your business - the superpowers of mental strength and focused consistency are within your reach.

This month's Superhero Spotlight is on Usain Bolt ... the greatest sprinter of all time.

While Lightning Bolt's physical achievements are awe-inducing, like holding world records for men's 100m and 200m sprints, we must recognize the part his mental strength plays in his athletic abilities.

While most of us can only dream of Bolt's physical prowess, we can always take inspiration from the mental strength he uses to succeed.

Read on for some tips on mental toughness in Bolt's own words, and our favourite pieces of Better Body Equipment to help you with your sprinting progress.

Superhero Spotlight: Usain Bolt

1. Fail Forward

"My coach taught me before we started, you have to learn how to lose, before you learn how to win. You got to understand that.

You won't win every race and that is one thing I have learnt over the years. When you lose a race, you got to go back and think ‘what did I do wrong today.’

You got to work on it and go back. You got to understand that you will lose someday. You have to learn from the loss and then win again."

While failing at anything is not a good feeling, you are in a better place having tried, failed and learned lessons than having not tried at all.

Whether you are training for a new deadlift PR or preparing for a big job interview - never let your failures get you down. Use them as motivation to help you succeed the next time.

2. Stop caring what others think.

Worrying gets you nowhere. If you turn up worrying about how you’re going to perform, you’ve already lost. Train hard, turn up, run your best and the rest will take care of itself.

If you want to win anything in life, you can’t keep worrying about what people think of you.

There will always be criticism from people who wish they had the guts to push themselves outside of their comfort zone.

That's just noise. Ignore it.

Keep showing up. Keep training. But do it for yourself.

3. No one is going to save you but you.

“A lot of people will just stop because they’re dead tired. You gotta do that extra one. That’s when you improve.”

Take massive responsibility for your life.

Unhappy with aspects of your life?

Take an honest quota of your lifestyle choices and decide what you need to change to become the happiest, best version of yourself.

This takes great courage... but by doing this you are setting yourself apart from the 98% of the population who are happy to stay in their comfort zones.

Train like Usain

Adjustable Weighted Vest

Add a weighted vest to your home gym repertoire to improve your sprint speed, and to maximize your hill training for endurance.

You'll work your lungs AND your full body.

Air Bike

An air bike, also known as a fan bike, is a heavy-duty exercise bike. Unlike other fitness bikes, an air bike uses air resistance: the harder you pedal, the greater the resistance.  Endure a full body assault with a sprint Air Bike workout.

We hope this spotlight inspires you to prioritize your mental, as well as physical gains.
